A BOR approved curricular proposal partitioning the previous course Thesis (300) and Dissertation (400) courses into sequential, 300.1, 300.2, and 400.1 , 400.2 , 400.3.

Description: Details the partitioning of Master’s theses into two courses (300.1 proposal, 300.2 implementation/defense) and PhD dissertations into three courses (400.1 proposal, 400.2 implementation/defense, 400.3 research publication). It imposes enforced completion deadlines per phase to minimize excessive residency extensions and integrates degree publication requirements. Also explains the grading and completion of courses

3. Phd by Research IRR –

This document outlines the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) for the PhD in Health Sciences (By Research) program administered by the National Graduate Office for the Health Sciences (NGOHS) to assist faculties in guiding their advisees. It provides detailed operational guidelines on the following key areas:

Dissertation Courses & Sequence: Detailed requirements for the three progressive dissertation courses (HS 400.1, HS 400.2, and HS 400.3), including required conference presentations, publication milestones in Scopus/ISI-indexed journals, and final proposal/oral defenses.

Administrative & Residency Policies: Rules on maximum residency (5 calendar years, extendable up to 3 years with annual conference presentation requirements), dissertation in absentia, deferment, honorable dismissal, and graduation requirements.

4. PhD by Publication IRR –
This document contains the approved Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) specifically for the PhD in Health Sciences (By Publication) program, to assist Dissertation supervisor in guiding their advisee:

  • Dissertation Structure: Requirements for an integrative dissertation framework that synthesizes at least 4 interrelated scientific papers published in peer-reviewed, ISI/Scopus-indexed journals within the past 10 years where the candidate made significant contributions.
  • Coursework & Doctoral Defense Committee: Guidelines for the two 6-unit dissertation courses (HSP 400.1 and HSP 400.2) and rules governing the 5-member Doctoral Defense Committee, including qualifications for external/visiting supervisors.
  • Strict Program Timelines: Rules enforcing a strict Maximum Residency Rule (MRR) of two (2) academic years with no extension allowed, alongside public proposal/final defense protocols and graduation compliance steps
